Are lawyers liers? Let’s see…

A small town prosecuting attorney called his first witness to the stand in a trial–a grandmotherly, elderly woman.

He approached her and asked, “Mrs. Jones, do you know me?”

She responded, “Why, yes, I do know you Mr. Williams. I’ve known you since you were a young boy. And frankly, you’ve been a big disappointment to me. You lie, you cheat on your wife, you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you’re a rising big shot when you haven’t the brains to realize you never will amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you.”

The lawyer was stunned. Not knowing what else to do he pointed across the room and asked, “Mrs. Williams, do you know the defense attorney?”

She again replied, “Why, yes I do. I’ve known Mr. Bradley since he was a youngster, too. I used to baby-sit him for his parents. And he, too, has been a real disappointment to me. He’s lazy, bigoted, he has a drinking problem. The man can’t build a normal relationship with anyone and his law practice is one of the shoddiest in the entire state. Yes, I know him.”

At this point, the judge rapped the courtroom to silence and called both counselors to the bench.

In a very quiet voice, he said with menace, “If either of you asks her if she knows me, you’ll be in jail for contempt within 5 minutes!” (^_^)

Love to eat…Learn to cook it…(Pork Siomai)

Siomai is a dimsum of Chinese origin which is loved by many Filipinos. One can order different kinds of siomai but the base is always pork. The ground meat should have some fat otherwise the cooked siomai will be too tough. Prawns or shrimps can be substituted for part of the pork if desired.

Estimated cooking time: 50 minutes

Shrimp and Pork Siomai Ingredients:

  • 1 kg ground pork (suggested proportion of fat to lean meat is 1:3) or 1 kg Prawn (shrimp) peeled
  • 1/3 cup chopped water chestnuts or turnips (singkamas)
  • 1/3 cup chopped carrots
  • 2 medium or 1 large minced onion(s)
  • bunch of spring onions or leeks
  • 1 egg
  • 5 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 50 pcs. large or 100 pcs. small wanton or siomai wrapper
  • soy sauce, calamansi (lemon or kumquats), sesame oil and chilli paste (for the sauce)
    Wrapper:
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable or corn oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    Chilli Paste:
  • 1/8 kilo Chillies (Siling Labuyo)
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced

Siomai Cooking Instructions:

  • Mix all the ingredients for the filling in a bowl.

  • Spoon 1 tablespoon of mixture into each wrapper. Fold and seal.

  • Meanwhile, boil water and brush steamer with oil.

  • When the water gets to a rolling boil, arrange the siomai in the steamer and let stand for 15-20 minutes, longer for larger pieces.

  • Serve with soy sauce, calamansi and sesame oil. Chilli paste is optional.

    Wrapper:

  • Beat egg and mix with flour till free of lumps.

  • Bring water, cooking oil and salt to a boil, then pour in flour.

  • Remove from heat and beat until mixture forms a ball.

  • Divide the dough into 1 1/4 -inch balls.

  • Roll each ball on a floured board until paper thin. Set aside.

  • Simplest version of chilli sauce would be to chop chillies well and fry them in oil, sesame or vegetable oil, never olive oil if you want it to have a Filipino taste.

    Chilli Paste:

Combine chopped chillies and minced garlic then simmer for around 20 minutes or till most of the water has evaporated. Add oil, simmer and stir well.

What say you ATENISTA???

Got this link from a friend…seems the La Sallian brothers can’t accept their recent fall with the UAAP Championship!  What say you ATENISTA???

Controversy (La Salle Ateneo Finals Game) “Win With Excellence pala ah. “

(Got this from Marion, Which he got from Thirdy. Copy Pasted ;) )

Gloating Blue Eagle -Talking Points
By Bobby Cabral
Dear La Sallians:

By now, you would have experienced gale force winds in Katipunan.  Or you would have read articles in newspapers or blogs proclaiming the greatness of this season 71 edition of the Blue Eagles, Rabeh, Chris Tiu, Buenafe et al.  They will also criticize our Archers as pikon and lacking class for not receiving their runner-up trophy, so perhaps we should be prepared with the facts.

1.  While UP is the host of Season 71 and they selected the Narvasa Brothers (both former Blue Eagle varsity players) and were directly responsible for the referees.

2.  Commissioner Chito Narvasa penalized La Salle and Coach Franz Pumaren during the first La Salle-Ateneo regular season game for not wearing his ID and gave two free throws to Ateneo.  This inspite of Coach Pido Jarencio of UST being shown not wearing his ID during the earlier game and not being penalized.

3.  During two regular games during the season, one versus FEU and the other against UST, referees who called technical fouls against La Salle’s opponents were punished by Narvasa after the game with a termination and one with a suspension.

4.  During the the final championship game, Buenafe, Jobe and other Ateneans could be seen taunting and trash talking but were not penalized.

5.  The referees called 29 fouls on the Archers and only 13 fouls against the Blue Eagles.  They awarded 28 free throws (18 which were converted) to Ateneo and only 8 free throws to the Green Archers.

6.  The phantom finger of Rico was not clearly evident and since there was no reaction from the Eagles, it must not have happened.

7.  The Green Archers were in the dugout during the awarding and no official from the UAAP called them out to receive their award.

Finally, if the Ateneans wanted to win with honor, they failed to do so.  The Ateneo community should have asked the Narvasas to inhibit themselves due to their school history and obvious bias towards La Salle.

I will concede the first three La Salle-Ateneo games in Season 71 to the Blue Eagles.  But we will never know the outcome of game 2 of the Championship series.because the referees panicked when La Salle reduced a 15 point deficit to three in less than five minutes.
Animo La Salle!!!

Pyrolympics 2008 @ Mall of Asia

Last May 31 (Saturday), I went to MOA with Bebe and his family to watch the Pyrolympics 2008. I was hesitant to join them since a week before that, we went there too but the fireworks display was suspended due to the rain. The day after that, they went back to MOA only to find out that it was again suspended. So when they were asking me to come with them to watch the Pyrolympics, after 2 failed attempts, I didn’t want to waste my time looking forward to something which may just end up as another suspended display. But I went with them anyway since that was the last weekend of Bebe’s family here in the country, before they head back to Saudi.

So we went there and thank God the Pyrolympics pushed through. It was worth the wait, effort, and time. The display was very beautiful. It was actually romantic to watch it with your loved one. hehe. I love the part where the fireworks formed a shape of a heart. And I love the food, ehem, diet. Hehehe. I attached my recording of the video below to share the love of the Pyrolympics 2008. Enjoy watching.

Corrine May’s Something About You

Dont what you do to me but
Everytime I’m with you its a natural high
its like re-discovering Eden
with chocolate-coated rainbows and cotton candy skies
And everytime you look my way
I wish i had the guts to say

There’s something in your eyes
Something in your smile
Something in the way you move me
You make me want to sing
Make me want to dance
Make me want to cry
I’m falling in love with you.

I think i’ll hire Cupid
He’ll make you see I’m more than your friend
You’ll be tossing and turning
Counting the hours til you see me again
And when we meet you’ll
Kiss my hand and say the words I’ve longed to hear

There’s something in your eyes
Something in your smile
Something in the way you move me
You make me want to sing
Make me want to dance
I’m falling in love with you
You make me want to sing
Make me want to dance
Make me want to cry
I’m falling in love with you.

Rihanna Ft. Ne-Yo’s Hate That I Love You

Yeah… hey… Oh…

[Rihanna:]
That’s much I love you (yeah)
That’s how much I need you (yeah, yeah, yeahah)
And I can’t stand ya
Most everything you do
Make me wanna smile
Can I not like you for awhile (no… oh…)

[Ne-Yo:]
Cuz’ you won’t let me
You upset me girl
And then you kiss my lips
All of a sudden I forget (that I was upset)
Can’t remember what you did

[Rihanna:]
But I hate it…
You know exactly what to do
So that I can’t stay mad at you
For too long that’s wrong

[Ne-Yo:]
But I hate it…
You know exactly how to touch
So that I don’t want to fuss… and fight no more
Said I despise that I adore you

[Rihanna:]
And I hate how much I love you boy (yeah…)
I can’t stand how much I need you (I need you…)
And I hate how much I love you boy (oooh whoah…)
But I just can’t let you go
And I hate that I love you so (oooh…)

[Ne-Yo:]
And you completely know the power that you have
The only one that makes me laugh

[Rihanna:]
Sad and it’s not fair
How you take advantage of the fact
That I… love you beyond the reason why (why…)
And it just ain’t right

[Ne-Yo:]
And I hate how much I love you girl
I can’t stand how much I need you (yeah…)
And I hate how much I love you girl
But I just can’t let you go
But I hate that I love you so

[Both:]
One of these days maybe your magic won’t affect me
And your kiss won’t make me weak
But no one in this world knows me the way you know me
So you’ll probably always have a spell on me…

[Ne-Yo:]
Yeaahhh… Oohh…

[Both:]
And I hate that I love
You soooooooo!

[Rihanna:]
As much I love you (as much as I need you oh…)
As much as I need you (oooh… as so much I love you)
As much I love you (oh…)
As much as I need you

[Rihanna:]
And I hate that I love you soooo
And I hate how much I love you boy
I can’t stand how much I need ya (cant stand how much I need you)
And I hate how much I love you boy
But I just can’t let you go (but I just can’t let you go no…)
And I hate that I love you so

And I hate that I love you so… soo…
