Couple's Kiss vs. Dark Chocolate“There is no doubt that chocolate beats kissing hands down when it comes to providing a long-lasting body and brain buzz.” (BBC News)

Hate to admit it, but science shows that even the most passionate kisser is four times hands down with a simple chocolate bar. And this all because of the phenylethylamine (a substance chocolates contain) which can raise levels of endorphins, the pleasure-giving substances, in the brain.

There was a recent test conducted on a couple both aged 20 years old. There were electrodes attached to their scalp to monitor brain activity plus they wore heart monitors to track heart beat for excitement and other reactions. They were asked to first eat a dark chocolate and then asked to kiss. Everyone was surprised when they found out that the chocolate won over the long passionate kiss!Couples Kissing for the test

Kissing set the initial bar on heart pounding but the effect did not last as long as that seen with the chocolate. Chocolate increased the heart rates from a resting rate of about 60 beats per minute to 140.

The study also found that as the chocolate started melting, all regions of the brain received a boost far more intense and longer lasting than the excitement seen with kissing.

ChocolateThe test used a new 60% cocoa dark chocolate from Cadbury. So for those out there without somebody to love and kiss with…I suggest you grab a chocolate bar and stay happy as in love.
